Well, births and marriages anyway.
Firstly let me say how excited I am to be witnessing the birth of the Melbourne Crusaders SC and the formalisation of the Lambretta Club of Australia.
Firstly, on the LCA front, several Lambretta enthusiasts from around the country are in the process of nutting out a formal recognised Lambretta Club for Aussies. I will endeavour to keep you posted on that development. In the meantime, if you are lambretta owner/ enthusiast, I suggest joining the Lambretta Club of Australia Yahoo Group.
Secondly on the births front, the Melbourne Crusaders had their first meeting on Wednesday..... heres some posts I have lifted from various Yahoo groups (dodgy journalism at it's best) detailing the results....
We had the inaugural meeting of the melbourne
crusaders on wednesday night out at the mountain view
hotel in glen waverley. If the adage, "From little
things, big things grow" Is true then this will be
massive as there was a grand total of four attendees.
The idea is to try and see if we can dredge up people
who in the younger days had a pasion for all things
scooter related, this is basically a club for those
with an interest or even passion for Classic scooters.
Yep I know its a bit exclusive but the concensus was
that the focus will be on your geared generally (with
the obvious exceptions) european scooter.
We hope to try and unite some of the other classic
scooter groups floating around top try and get
something regualar happening.
Some of the ideas floated was a social night with some
tunes of the traditional scooterist flavour (northern,
reggae etc) so that it isnt just about sitting around
and talking carbs and mirrors.
We also plan to advertise in some publications (local
papers, motorcycle press) to try and find those folks
that may have been involved in scoots in the past, but
for whatever reason have let that slide over the
years.
Also welcome is anyone that has an interest in scoots
even if you dont happen to have one (yet, we hope lol)

AND MORE RECENTLY
Hi all,
I am now able to confirm that the second meeting of the Melbourne
Crusaders Scooter Club will take place next Wednesday, 2nd May and
from then on every first Wednesday of the month at the Yorkshire
Stingo Hotel, 48 Hoddle Street, Abbotsford. The Stingo is close to
the suburbs of Collingwood, East Melbourne, Richmond and the
Melbourne CBD, it's near the junction of Victoria Parade and Hoddle
Street (Punt Road) on the left hand side as you head towards Clifton
Hill. See Melway Map 44 D6.
The Stingo has been recently renovated and has good food available,
it is also open until 1.00am on most days. The idea is for anyone
interested to come along and meet everyone, doesn't matter if you
don't come on a scooter, just be there. If you are interested in
geared and / or classic scooters this is the place to be, but if you
don't have one, want to get one are just interested in scooters,
soul, reggae, mod, the retro lifestyle, then please accept this
invitation to come along.
The idea behind the Crusader is not to compete with anyone, but to
work together with all having similar interests. We hope to be a
little different tnan any other Clubs / Groups and offer a
complete package of Scootering, Music, Radio Show, Internet, Yahoo
Groups, Websites and a regular meeting place where like minded
people can get together in person and help make the Club all it can
be.
In light of the recent email skirmishes, I would like everyone to
understand that we aim to form a democratic Club, where all members
have a vote, supported by a committe elected by the membership, so
everyone will have a voice. We might not all agree, but in the true
mod tradition we will provide the opportunity for everyone to have
their say and an environment where they will not be afraid to say it.
Come along and be part of it, and let us know what you want from the
Club, it's the complete package and so we hope it's gonna' be a big
thing and that you can be part of it.

Wednesday, 2nd May, Yorkshire Stingo Hotel, Abbotsford. 7.30pm
