Carry On Up the Murray

 THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Stuart put a big effort into gettign this up and running, but struggled with the late notice, the fact it is wintertime, and many clubs already have events on aroud that time.

It seems due to public opinion, Stuart has altered the venue to accomodate the old and infirm.

more soon...

Here's an extract from a recent post on the Australian Scooter Collective Yahoo Group...

Ok,
Seems caravans and pubs miles away dont appeal, plus the numbers will be pretty low for paintball shenanigans. So I bow to group pressure and lake boort it is. I was thinking that if the weather is shit it will be pretty grim having to spend the whole weekend without the comfort of a warm pub to get shitfaced in.
Ok, im gonna ring them today and let me know that hopefully people will be booking reasonably soon.
The website is

here's an extract from Stuart Raphaello's original post on the Australian Scooter Collective...
After long and hard consideration Wakiti Creek resort has been chosen as the destination for Carry On Up the Murray(just not very far if you're from melbourne) Oh and its not on the murray its on a creek, but thats just semantics. That ends the discussion on the destination, if you dont like it, feel free to kick something close and swear under your breath but I dont want to hear about it. No guns are being pointed at anyones head to come and its a voluntary thing.
I am still waiting to hear back from the owner about prices for caravans but i will let people know whan I get that info.
You will need to book direct with them, and if you want a bed in one of the cabins you will need to do it quick as they only have 11 beds.
The costs for a cabin bunk are about $27 a night and a campsite is $12 a night per person.
You can pay either by direct deposit or credit card etc.(just mention you are booking for the scooter run and theyll look after you)
A big thanks to Johnny and Alfred for Australian scooter Parts for coming on board with some much needed sponsorship, as well as Mark from Carters classic scoots, as well as Frank and Bruno from Vespa House in collingwood and Dion from whileyousleep the amazing printing man who is doing patches, t-shirts and legshield banners from the kindness of his heart
So far the categories for the show n shine are
Best Vespa
Best Lambretta
Best auto
Best performances based scooter
Best Anorak resto (nut n bolt original condition)
Best rat
Hand of god award (greatest miracle of actually getting there)
The "aint s/he just special?" award (vomit, accidents, peed pants are all fair in this one)
Furthest travelled
Team paintball trophy http://www.semozpaintball.com/
Depending on whether the park owners will let us there will be a slow ride comp, and perhaps a gymkhana as well.
Patches will be free to anyone who rides a scoot the whole way, legshield banners will be available for a price beforehand to fund the sound system, hopefully a barbie one of the days and anything left over will go either to charity or to the national run fund.
We also need more sponsors for the comps folks, nothing stopping your club or non scooter related business from sponsoring an event either, it doesnt have to be anything amazing just something people will appreciate.
Itinerary so far
Arrive saturday 9th june(or friday night if you are pretty close like us people from melbourne), get squared away and meet and greet
Sunday late morning, head off to semoz paintball over the border for some shoot em up fun depending on numbers)
Mid afternoon Show and shine, and competitions (slow ride etc)
Depending on money a bar b q will be supplied for nicks, followed by a rauckus night of music and hilarity
So far we have SlimDougSmith from melbournes premiere skinhead reggae and soul club, night at the hop, and hopefully some other usual suspects from sydney and melbourne (get in touch if you either have access to a set of decks, a box of records or any other sound equipment.
I will be publishing the design for the legshield banners some time in the next week, please help us out by buying one or twenty as it looks like this will be our source of funding for entertainment, they wont be very expensive and they look pretty cool.
If you do decide to sponsor something you will get your logo on both the run t-shirts and banners. Not to mention the website and flyers if I can get someone to give me a hand doing those.
